Ukraine Invites President of Turkmenistan for Official Visit
Ashgabat, 31 August 2007 (nCa) --- Ukraine has invited President Berdymuhamedov of Turkmenistan for an official visit.
The formal invitation was handed to the Turkmen president Thursday when Deputy Chief of Ukrainian Presidential Secretariat, Oleksandr Chalyi and minister for regional development and building, Volodymyr Yatsuba, called on him.
The Ukrainian delegation congratulated the Turkmen president on the start of work on gas pipeline to China. This would be the third export route for Turkmen gas, they said.
Berdymuhamedov said that Turkmenistan would continue to pursue multiple routes for export of its huge energy resources to the world markets.
The sides discussed some projects such as a bridge over Amudarya River and drainage-communication tunnel in Ashgabat that should have been completed long ago. The Ukrainian companies that are doing the projects have not been able to keep their commitments.
