Turkmenistan Expanding Power Infrastructure in North-East
Ashgabat, 14 July 2007 (nCa) --- Turkmenistan is fast expanding power generation, distribution and management infrastructure in its northeastern areas.
The extended power network is designed to support the upcoming projects such as gas pipeline to China, sulfuric acid plant in Samandepe and gas processing and production facilities at Yashyldepe deposit.
The soon-to-be-completed LEP-110 grid station will connect to the 46.5 kilometers long cable network for feeding the Yashyldepe substation at the right bank of Amudarya River.
The new supply system will also feed the Farab-Samandepe line. This connection is expected to come live by the end of this month.
The Samandepe-Yashyldepe, Burdalyk-Pelvert, and Pelvert-Turkmenabat links will get two new transformer substations. In addition, the Turkmenabat and Burdalyk substations are being reconstructed.
Future plans envisage another 320 kilometers of supply network. Most of the work is done by Turkmen organizations under local supervision.
Total cost of the power expansion project at the right bank of Amudarya River is US $ 27.3 million and the work would be completed by the end of this year.
