DUSHANBE, 9 July 2007 --- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will issue $192 million worth of loans and grants to Tajikistan over the next three years for agricultural, regional, energy, social, and transport projects, an ADB spokesperson said Monday.

Tatyana Yevstifeyeva said some $74.1 million would be allocated this year. "There are plans to allocate some $63 million and $55 million in 2008 and 2009, respectively," she said. "However, the final assistance package will depend on the country's national achievements and the availability of funds at the ADB."

This year's financial program also includes a project to improve transport connections between China, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.

In the first quarter of 2007 ADB granted Tajikistan 73 projects and programs worth $339.2 million and five grants to the tune of $9.7 million.
