Since 1 June 2022, Turkmenistan has opened transit for foreign vehicles between the Farap (border with Uzbekistan) and Serakhs (border with Iran) checkpoints.
The press service of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan posted a message on its Telegram channel (https://t.me/Mintrans_uz/9845) unveiling the details and requirements for foreign vehicles engaged in transit cargo transportation through the territory of Turkmenistan.
According to the announcement, transit cargo will move on the route Farap-Serakhs in a convoy, which will be formed at a distance of 1 km from the borders of Uzbekistan and Iran.
The traffic police will escort the trucks.
The convoy will stop at designated parking lots for refueling, car maintenance and drivers’ rest.
In case of a car troubles or other problems while driving, representatives of law enforcement agencies and the Road Transport Agency of Turkmenistan will provide assistance.
In addition, all vehicles should be sanitized.
Truck drivers are required to provide the negative PCR-test certificates at the border, received at least 72 hours before crossing the state border, or a certificate of vaccination against Covid-19 (no later than 42 days from the date of the last vaccination).
